LLAMAS OF THE WINE COUNTRY started in 1991 as a group of llama owners with marketing as the initial goal.  Over the years, we have evolved into a group of llama lovers with many goals.

Although we have continued marketing llamas in various ways, we have taken on the challenge to educate new owners, entertain the public and share with each other the joys of owning llamas.

Llamas are by far the easiest to care for of any domestic livestock.  They are remarkably clean, easy to train, and their docile nature makes them good companions for children as well as adults.  Llamas are superbly functional pack animals, fine fiber producers, guard animals for sheep and goats, and gentle pets.

* “Puck” portrays the noble, classic beauty and strength of selective breeding over the centuries. His complete enjoyment of packing 100 pounds of Cabernet Sauvignon wine grapes during the pick is evident. Puck was owned by CO’G and Alexa Morrison of Ranchito Casllama. Alexa Morrison generously donated Puck’s grape baskets to the Llamas of the Wine Country group to be auctioned off a part of a fund raising effort. Steve and Sheila Herrin purchased these grape baskets in 2004. Steve and Sheila Herrin wanted to be sure these wonderful packs stayed in the Llamas of the Wine Country organization. The Herrin’s adorn their llamas with these packs as they participate in many activities such as the Petaluma Butter and Egg Days Parade.
